Tips To Stay Motivated

Do you ever lose motivation to get your sweat on? I've been there. But over time I've found what keeps me going, so I compiled a few tips that help me stay on track when I'm feeling unmotivated. 

1. Don't do sh*t you hate.
I can't tell you how many times I have done a workout program or diet because it's a fad, it's what all of my friends are doing, or it's what worked for someone else. Well, I've learned that everyone's bodies respond to things differently. So I'm not going to put myself through something that I absolutely hate, but my girlfriends love. Instead, I want to find what makes me happy and does good for my body. 

2. Don't get in to too much of a routine. 
Switch up your workouts. Find a few different workouts that you love. That way you'll never get stuck in a rut. I've found that when I do the same thing, at the same time, every single day, I get bored and quickly lose motivation. By having a few different workouts in my back pocket, it makes it easy to stay on track and get excited about fitness. 

3. Make it a lifestyle. 
I find myself choosing to be active all the time. Take the stairs, not the elevator. Park far away, not in the front spot. Take a walk over lunch, don't stay sitting down all day long. All of these little choices add up and make it easy to think of my health and well being with every choice that I need to make. 

4. Don't be too hard on yourself. 
I am still guilty of this and it's something I'm working on. I used to feel terrible about eating a piece of chocolate, or ordering a burger WITH the bun... But I've learned that the 80/20 rule is what you need to live by. You aren't perfect. You will never be perfect. If you want chocolate, eat the dang chocolate and don't regret it! Listen to your body, what it's craving and just don't overdo it.
